There can be several reasons why you forget to reply to emails you receive in your Outlook inbox. Whatever the reason, Microsoft is working to eliminate this hiccup by introducing a new feature called Message Reminders in the Outlook mobile apps.
When message reminders are enabled, Outlook will display emails that require a response at the top of your inbox. That way, you’ll never miss emails that require your response, unless you receive a lot of them. By default, Outlook displays newer emails at the top and older ones at the bottom. But after message reminders are turned on, emails requiring a response will be prioritized and will appear at the top.
Microsoft Outlook Mobile will detect whether emails require a response from recipients. However, Microsoft has not clarified how Outlook will treat these emails. This looks similar to the Message Reminders capability in Outlook on the web. When turned on, Outlook Web Client reminds you to reply to important messages older than three days, helping you stay on top of your email.
In Outlook desktop, the sender needs to set a reply reminder to ensure that recipients don’t forget to reply. When recipients receive the email, they will be notified of the deadline to respond to the email message.
According to Microsoft 365 Roadmap page, Message Reminders is in development and will be ready for rollout next month in May. The new reminder functionality will likely be available via an app update for Android and iOS users before the end of next month.
