According to Spencer, it’s the responsibility of company executives to make sure gamers experience more joy than negativity. He also praised developers who still release “their ideas” to the world in the “current culture of criticism and cancellation”.

We, all of us here today, all of our teams around the world, are all part of creating this echo effect of happiness. Our creators who bravely and deliberately present their visions to the world, especially in the current culture of criticism and cancellation; Our athletes who bravely and intentionally take time out of our sports to make their lives inviting, relaxing and business leaders. We are called upon to have the courage to protect and nurture this collective joy.”

The Xbox veteran also expressed his desire for game publishers to work towards unity between gamers and developers. He continued,

And business leaders – we need the courage to protect and nurture this collective joy. We are asked to incubate these experiences, to create and grow them. We turn away from dividing players and creators, and instead toward each other, as we move forward and grow joy together. This is the echo effect of gaming pleasure.
