Immortals of Aveum

Earlier this month, the cover was completely removed. Immortals of Aveum. This fantasy-themed single-player first-person shooter already looked pretty impressive. Today, game developer Ascendant Studios released the first extended in-game footage for the title and it looks pretty impressive.

The game’s official website also posted an article that talks about the technological leaps it’s taking, and with that comes some real PC system requirements.

As the blog post says. Immortals of Aveum Will be one of the first games to be released that will use Epic’s Unreal Engine 5.1. This means it will use features like its Nanite system for more detailed objects in the game and Lumen for more realistic lighting effects. The game environment will be huge and interactive as well. The blog post says:

During your journey through the Aveum you will encounter structures and sculptures that reach for the sky, and they are not just for show. With the power of your sigil, you will be able to reshape the world around you to create new paths to traverse and new ways to explore. Giant statues made of ancient stone will move with life under the guidance of your hand. Years ago, the growth that wrapped itself around the mountains will become yours at will.

The blog also talks about a part of the game that will likely reveal its graphics. It quotes its chief technology officer Mark Maratti as saying:

“Some of the ideas the team would throw out there,” says Mark, “we couldn’t do, because we didn’t have the technology.” ‘Hey, let’s go 400 feet into the sea at the mech level, and we can hit the mech with planes, and you’re fighting inside the mech, and you’re fighting above the mech, and maybe you Almost falling out of the match at one point?’—and it would be, ‘How are we ever going to make that a reality?’ But that level is in play. And we hope players think it looks amazing.
