Athletes from all over the world travel to showcase their talents. The prize pool of the event has set new records with each passing year, and so has the number of people who gather to be a part of this grand sporting event.
Evo 2022 ended with nail-biting matches and several announcements for upcoming games. The event took place in Las Vegas from August 5 to 7, 2022 and was attended by around 7,500 people. With this huge turnout from the fighting fanbase, Evo announced his 2023 event soon after.
The new tournament is going to be a continuation of the past events of Evo Japan. The event will take place at the Tokyo Big Site.
The seven tournaments included in the event will run over a weekend from March 31.St As of April 2nd though, Evo has had some changes this year including a change in ownership and the addition of new games.
And yes, there is a prize pool. Fourteen million Japanese yen That’s about $100,000.
The most important part is still the titles that Evo will offer. All the main titles that were on display for the 2022 event will be presented again. Key titles confirmed for the event so far:
- Green Blue Fantasy: Vs
- Melty Blood: Type of Lumina
- Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown
- Guilty Gear – The Struggle –
- THE KING OF WARRIORS XV
- Street Fighter V: Champion Edition
- Tekken 7
We’ll have to wait and see if more fighting game series will be added as the event draws closer. We can probably expect more from this limited run as it is a multi-day event.
However, to add to the excitement, Evo is hosting a show in February 2023 to announce the official and final line-up of the event. Subscribed candidates have received an email from Evo sharing updated information about the event.
As of 2021, the event has moved under the joint ownership of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Endeavor Sports Venture RTS.
As for the summer 2023 event, Sony Unzone Evo will return to the event! Sony INZONE will equip all competition stations with 27″ INZONE M3 monitors and the stages will use H3 headsets.
For registration, you can visit Evo’s official website. You can also read the latest rule changes and more. Spectator tickets range from 8000 JPY to 4000 JPY for premium and general seats respectively, and open seats cost 2500 JPY if you like to walk around.
