An unfinished version of the live-action USA TV spot for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has leaked and hints at some interesting aspects of the game. In the commercial, Link is in a dark area that he lights up by shooting an arrow at a nearby tree. And fans believe that this part of the game is actually going deep underground.
A user on Zelda Subreddit The leaked ad is 59 seconds long, with the last 30 seconds blank. You can see the sequence where Zelda lights up the dark area at about the 20 second mark. The commercial shows a small map with three coordinates, at the bottom of the TV screen. These readings are for the X, Y, and Z-axis, and after studying them, players are predicting that this is an underground cave.

You see, the Z-axis coordinates are -0.479, which in Zelda terms means the area is deep underground. By comparison, this area is as low to the ground as a mountain range of dueling peaks in the sky. A user on New GAF The forum said that this area goes as deep underground into Hyrule as the Sky Islands go above it. So, this cave in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is really deep down, with an emphasis on reality.
Considering that we haven’t heard about this feature yet, this is a huge surprise for fans. The shiny flower arrows are also another aspect of the game that was not present in the trailer we saw yesterday. In addition to the discovery of an underground cave network, this commercial also confirms the return of a recurring boss. Glavock is set to annoy players in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but with a twist.
At the 12-second mark of the trailer, you can see a dragon chasing Link in a boss fight. This part of the ad also shows the name of this dangerous creature on the Nintendo Switch. “Flame Gleeok” is the name of the three-headed dragon that is trying to kill our protagonist. The presence of adjectives indicates that there are more variations of Gleevec in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Gleevec has had variations of this skill in previous games like 2007’s Phantom Hourglass. In this title, one of Gleewick’s heads attacks by breathing ice while the other breathes fire, similar to this TV spot. However, this is the first time that an adjective other than an individual Gleeok variant has been used. So hinting that we’ll likely see a different ice-breathing Gleevec in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
In Zelda Lore, Gleevec also has some variations based on the number of heads. In the first game, he was shown with two, three, and four heads, while in Oracle of Seasons Gleevec had two heads. Likewise, he held two heads in the Phantom Hourglass and guarded the Temple of Ice. And, from the leaked TV spot, it looks like he’ll be back with three heads in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Apart from these details, nothing else shown in the TV spot was new. The hype for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is already through the roof, and with the possible inclusion of underground cave networks, it will only increase. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long until the game launches on May 12, 2023 for the Switch.
