In addition to its 11 active games, Swedish video game publisher Paradox Interactive currently has a staggering 13 brand new titles in development. At least five of those games are slated to launch in 2023, starting with Age of Wonders 4 next month. The pipeline also includes highly anticipated games such as The Sims Color Life by You and the sequel to Cities: Skylines.

Paradox Interactive disclosed this information in its own. 2023 Quarter 1 Fiscal Earnings Report. The company reported revenue of $42.4 million in the quarter, an increase of 1% compared to Q1 2022. But, operating profit fell 25% to $13.7 million in 2023 from last year. However, the number of games the publisher is releasing is expected to increase in the coming months.

As Paradox itself says, 2023 is going to be an intense year for the publisher. The creator of Stellaris announced several games from its pipeline that will be released this year. The Paradox Interactive Show in March. Cities: Skylines II, the sequel to 2015’s city builder from Colossal Order, was perhaps the biggest announcement of the lot. But, of course the most interesting project on the list was the life simulation game Life by You.

The game’s showcase trailer became an instant hit and many fans called Life by You more in-depth than The Sims. Considering how Rod Humble, former head of The Sims brand, developed the game for Paradox, that’s no surprise. However, one of the many interesting games that Paradox launched this year is Life is You. Knights of Pen and Paper has already returned in March as the true sequel to the retro adventure.

Other titles coming out in 2023 include sci-fi auto-battler Maccabellum on May 11 and Age of Wonders 4 on May 2. Lamplighter League is another interesting title featuring strategic turn-based combat in a stylish alternative 1930’s setting. . So, with many new games to be released in the coming months, Q1 was a hot one for the Swedish publisher.

Paradox also notes in the report that titles like these greatly strengthen the studio’s strategic portfolio. And, as one of the leading developers of strategy and management games on PC and console, such investment is needed. In the financial report, the Swedish studio also mentioned how it has more than 5 million monthly active users across all its titles.

Survivor Mars, Cities: Skylines, Stellaris, Crusader Kings III, and Prison Architect are among the company’s most popular games. Victoria 3, Hearts of Iron IV, Stellaris, Crusader Kings III, and Cities: Skylines were the main profit drivers in the quarter, according to the documents. It’s no surprise that Paradox only releases expansions and pushes major releases to other quarters.
