Microsoft is halting internal testing of the new Xbox Home experience.

The Xbox Home Experience

In September 2022, Microsoft announced plans to test a new homepage design for its Xbox consoles. Members of the Xbox Insider Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead Rings can try out the new design, which includes features like a new “Jump back in” queue to allow gamers to quickly access their recently played games.

today, Microsoft announced. That it’s hitting the pause button on testing the new Xbox Home experience. This means people in the Xbox Insider Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead Rings will see their home screen revert to the current version.

In its blog post, Microsoft points out that testers weren’t all that thrilled with the new Xbox experience. It said:

We heard from you that the changes to the top of the home didn’t leave enough room to enjoy your background and that it felt crowded. We’re working to balance experience, accessibility, function, and the needs of our community to bring you a great and fresh home experience.

Microsoft said it is currently working on some “major updates” for Xbox gamers and that more details and releases for those updates will be coming “soon.”
