Microsoft Designer was first announced in October 2022 as a new design tool powered by generative AI features, including OpenAI’s DALL.E 2. Today, the company revealed that Microsoft Designer is now available for anyone to check out immediately in full public preview.
The idea behind Designer is that users can simply type in a prompt for the type of project they want to create, such as a blog post, website, digital postcards, and more, and the creative AI features that type. Will create designs that can be. Later edited manually. Microsoft’s blog post States that the public preview version comes with some improvements. It said:
Since October, AI models have continued to improve, and we’ve worked to weave these powerful capabilities into the designer canvas in even more enjoyable ways, putting you in control. Additionally, for those moments of inspiration while browsing the web, the designer is just a click away in the Microsoft Edge sidebar. The seamless integration of Designer in Edge is the first step in this journey. We are excited for future integrations.
The company went into more detail on the Designer Sidebar feature in the Edge web browser. Microsoft said:
You can instantly create unique designs by specifying the graphic you want. You don’t need to leave your page on your browser, switch Windows, or download an extension to start working on an idea when you strike up creativity. With Designer in Edge, you can create high-quality, unique content without disrupting your workflow.
You can go to Microsoft Designer Site now to check out the public preview version. The company is also working on more enhancements that will be added in future updates.
Upcoming additions will include a way to quickly replace the background of one image with another, along with expanding the background art to fill the entire image. The designer will also allow users to fill graphics with new content and erase existing content from images.
